CATHAY PROUDLY PRESENTS THE FIRST KOREAN FILM FESTIVAL - 8 TO 14 SEPTEMBER 2005, CATHAY CINEPLEX ORCHARD CINELEISURE

Cathay takes great pleasure in co-organising the first Korean Film Festival in Singapore with The Korea National Tourism Organization and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. With the increasing popularity of Korea films in recent years, the organisers are very enthusiastic to bring popular Korean films to the big screen over a period of 7 days to showcase a good variety of Korean films across different genres.

The festival features films that encompass an appealing potpourri of themes…from heart-warming dramas to comedy, war, art-house, horror and animation.

The Opening film, Marathon, tells the tale of an autistic teenager who finds happiness in running marathons. This drama was the highest grossing film in the first half of 2005 and touched the hearts of more than 5.18 million people.

Other highlights include Kim Ki Duk’s latest film, The Bow, Uncertain Regard the Opening Film at 2005 Cannes Film Festival, When I turned 9 which is in competition at the Giffoni Film Festival, My Beautiful Girl Mari, an acclaimed animation and Everybody Has Secrets, back by popular demand starring popular cast Choi Ji-Woo and Lee Byung Heon.
